Theresa Belton

Director

As Huna Totem Corporation celebrates its first 50 years, I am grateful that I’ve been a part of that entire journey thus far. I was born a few months before ANCSA was enacted by Congress in 1971, spent my childhood in Hoonah, and still live so close by I can be there in 20 minutes. I was first elected to the board in 2018 as Huna Totem Corporation was exiting business that didn’t deliver value, went right into surviving the financially significant negative impacts of COVID, to now having the most successful years of financial growth in its history – all in a short period of time. As Huna Totem progresses through the next 50 years, I will look back at my part in helping to guide the corporation with determination and the desire and drive to continue to achieve business excellence, sustainable economic growth, leadership, and education year after year for generations now and to come. I am very proud to be so closely connected to the Hoonah community, to be able to tell everyone who will listen why I love Xúna Kaawu, and why I will never leave this place.
