New terminal in Whittier port provides opportunities for locals and tourists

A new terminal is opening up at the port in Whittier for tourists to utilize as they pull into the city.

It’s a major upgrade for the port that will allow up to two cruise ships to be turned around in their double berth dock.

The project was built in collaboration with the City of Whittier, Huna Totem Corporation, and the Alaska Railroad. Community leaders say the facility will help create new jobs for vendors, contractors, passenger movement, and maintenance.

Russell Dick, Huna Totem Corporation’s President and CEO, said the new space would be put to good use.
