508 Compliance Specialist

HunaTek Government Solutions is seeking a 508 Compliance Specialist to perform daily at a customer site in Washington, DC. This position is pending contract award.

At least 3 years of experience in managing a Section 508 program, and remediation using appropriate tools is required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish agency policies, processes, guidance, and best practices to enable Section 508 compliance.
  • Possess knowledge of WCAG 2.0/Section 508 accessibility standards and best practices, with experience in remediation.
  • Validate front-end features of 508 compliance against Web Accessibility standards, including test development, administration, and outcome evaluation.
  • Maintain broad awareness of compliance requirements, processes, and objectives through executive briefings, training programs, and internal communication tools.
  • Develop templates to support compliance, reporting, and learning.
  • Stay informed about Section 508 and WCAG guidance and updates from GSA, Usability.gov, and other federal organizations.
  • Provide compliance guidance to support technology planning, design, development, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Ensure accessibility needs are clearly defined in development/systems requirements and contracting documents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of inspection/testing tools and independently perform testing.
  • Translate non-conformance to Test Standards into risk statements based on the impacted user population.
  • Write clear and accessible test report documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilize Section 508 Compliance test scripts and report test results.
  • Conduct Section 508 Compliance testing for web software applications.
  • Troubleshoot Section 508 Compliance software issues, including testing and troubleshooting software/hardware accessibility issues.
  • Understand the formal software development process and quality assurance standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with developers, content creators, and procurement professionals to address Section 508 policies.
  • Provide Section 508 conformance requirements support for agency-developed applications.
  • Define Section 508 requirements in collaboration with developers.
  • Test software and software applications using Section 508 conformance testing tools.
  • Utilize automated, manual, and hybrid testing tools.
  • Confirm software meets 508 requirements by consulting vendors, performing tests, or both.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • 3+ years of 508 compliance experience.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain an MRPT.
