50+ Years of Vision
and Growth
When Huna Totem Corporation was formed in 1973, it wasn’t just the start of a company—it was the continuation of a vision that our ancestors carried for generations. Back then, our leaders gathered in the back room of Cathy’s Ice Cream Parlor in Hoonah, guided by the same spirit of self-determination and resilience that shaped our people for over 10,000 years. With hearts full of purpose, they set out to build something that would not only provide for our people but protect our culture and land. Today, as we live in the present, we continue to plan for the next 50 years of Huna Totem Corporation, honoring the past while shaping a future rooted in woosh jee een.

Leading with Cultural Values
Our history has taught us to lead with integrity in all matters. It has also given us context; to always acknowledge that all decisions, past and present, have consequences for the future. As such, each and every decision is met with the consideration of balance, reciprocity and respect of all cultures, lands, and partnerships.

Building
Value
for Our People While Preserving Our Culture
At Huna Totem, our success is not only measured by business growth but by how well we uplift our shareholders and preserve our culture. Every decision we make is rooted in our responsibility to care for our people—both present and future.
Through the businesses we build, the investments we make, and programs like the Huna Heritage Foundation, we generate prosperity while safeguarding our cultural practices. This balance between economic growth and cultural stewardship lies at the heart of Huna Totem’s mission.

partnership
Working alongside other Alaska Native Corporations, building alliances in tourism, and forming strategic collaborations with external business partners has allowed us to diversify and expand. Yet through it all, the most important part is that we remain deeply rooted in our cultural values.
These partnerships are not just business transactions; they are built on mutual respect, shared vision, and a commitment to the future of all people. This balance between honoring our past and seeking new opportunities is the key to continuing to unlock Huna Totem Corporation’s future success.
